Philadelphia magician and mentalist Jesse Dameron performed roaming magic and mentalism at the US Travel ESTO 2026 Welcome Reception on Sunday, August 23, 2026. The Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) hosted the welcome reception at One North Broad, the Masonic Temple, for destination marketing professionals from across the country.

Jesse started at 5:00 PM, when the reception opened, rather than earlier. Starting before guests arrive risks running out of people to entertain. Starting with the reception lets guests arrive and settle in, so they’re ready to mingle when he reaches them.
Challenge: PHLCVB kept Jesse’s appearance a secret, but many attendees were outside the building before the reception, watching the sidewalk entertainment.
Approach: Julie, PHLCVB’s Director of Events & Experiences, offered the main Broad Street entrance or the side entrance on JFK Boulevard, directly across from City Hall. Jesse chose the side entrance and confirmed its location the day before. On event day he watched from across the street until the side entrance was clear, went in, and waited in a side hallway until guests were inside.

Challenge: Thunderstorms were forecast for August 23.
Approach: Jesse packed an umbrella and a poncho and stayed overnight at the Aloft Hotel directly very close by, so he wouldn’t show up soaked. He also reserved on-site parking at the Aloft so his van and everything in it stayed as close as possible to the venue.
Challenge: More than 250 attendees were spread across three floors, and there were only 90 minutes of roaming entertainment.
Approach: Jesse shortened his close-up set for each small group so he could reach more people, and he worked rooms on every level instead of staying in one.

After the event, Brian, Partnership Manager at PHLCVB, wrote:
“I heard that your entertainment was a big hit at the ESTO welcome reception and have submitted an overview to be highlighted at our Board of Directors meeting next week.”
