Highlight

One of the highlights of the Happy Hour was making the point that sometimes things that seem extraordinarily unlikely — things people doubt — really do happen. With billions of people in the world, the odds of this exact group of 25 gathering together are far lower than the odds of being struck by lightning, and the odds of two Rubik's Cubes matching are too.

One cube remained on the table in plain sight the entire time, untouched by anyone until I picked it up at the end to show the match. The second cube was handed to two different audience members in turn, each giving it a quick shuffle. I carried that cube back in plain sight the whole way, then held both cubes side by side — all six sides matched, met with a shockwave of gasps that amplified the impact of the message: that the extraordinarily unlikely really does happen.

Results

Griffin reacted enthusiastically to the performance and offered a $500 tip immediately afterward. The tip was paid. For me, it was a meaningful sign that the magic had landed the way I hoped — as the kind of magician Philadelphia guests remember for bringing real joy to the experience.
